サイモン・ウェスト監督がメガホンを取る新作「Medallion(原題)」にニコラス・ケイジの出演が決定した。二人がタッグ組むのは、1997年のサスペンス・アクション「コン・エアー」以来13年ぶりとなる。 2012年の公開が予定されている「Medallion」は、元大強盗の父親が誘拐された娘を助けるために奔走するアクション・スリラー。リーアム・ニーソンが主演した「96時間」(08)を彷彿とさせるプロットだが、本作では娘はニューヨークを走るタクシーのトランクに監禁されているという設定だとか。脚本はジャーナリストから転身したデヴィッド・グッゲンハイムが書き上げており、主演候補としてこれまでにクライヴ・オーウェンやジェイソン・ステイサムらの名前が挙がっていた。共同プロデューサーとして「ターミネーター4」(09)の監督マックGが参加するという

Nicolas Cage will star in Medallion, an action thriller directed by Simon West. Nu Image/Millennium Films has come aboard the project as financier and is already out to buyers with the package. The project had been in the works for a while and was to originally to have starred Clive Owen. Jason Statham was also associated with the project at one point as well. The story, with shades of Taken, follows a father, a former master thief, who has only a few hours to find his daughter when she is kidnapped and locked in the trunk of a New York medallion taxi cab. David Guggenheim, the former Us Weekly journalist who segued into screenwriting when he sold his high-profile spec Safe House (soon to be a Denzel Washington thriller from Universal), wrote the script. Matthew Joynes and Jesse Kennedy of Aurelius are producing as is McG via Wonderland Sound and Vision. James Holt (Men Who Stare at Goats) is also producing.

“The Frozen Ground” is based on the true story of Alaskan detective Glenn Flothe (called Sgt. Jack Halcombe in the movie). Halcombe (Nicolas Cage) sets out to end the murderous rampage of Robert Hansen (John Cusack), a serial killer who has silently stalked the streets of Anchorage for more than 13 years. As the bodies of Anchorage women start to add up, Sgt. Halcombe goes on a personal manhunt to find the killer. When 17 year old Cindy Paulson (Vanessa Hudgens) escapes Hansen's unspeakable violence, she believes the law will take him down. Instead she finds herself, once again, fighting for her life. With her only ally, the unlikely Sgt. Halcombe, Paulson is determined to bring a serial killer to justice.

ニックがファンのいろんな質問に答えるというのがあったようです。
@empireonline.comさんにその詳細がアップされてて面白いですが、映画やキャラクターの質問が
圧倒的な中、"What is your favourite sandwich?"　好きなサンドイッチは何ですか？
というのがありました。映画の話ももちろんだけど、やはりパーソナルっぽい部分が
聞けると嬉しい＾＾ｖ
ニックは、ローストラムにホワイトブレッド、マヨネーズとルッコラを少々。
これを薄くスライスした物と答えてます。
焼いたラム肉とルッコラだけというシンプルなのがいいみたいですね。
これは、ハリウッド・ブルーバードにある"Muso & Frank's Grill"というレストランで
食べられるそうです。ここは1917年から営業している老舗レストランで、もしパンケーキが好きなら
まるでクレープのように薄く焼いた"flannel cakes"がニックのお勧めらしいです。

『The roast lamb sandwich with white bread and a bit of mayonnaise and arugula, thinly sliced. You can get it at Muso & Frank's Grill on Hollywood Boulevard, and it's our oldest grill; it's been around since 1917. If you like pancakes, they have good flannel cakes there, which are thin pancakes kind of like a crepe.』

後、「リング」を制作したような日本のフィルムメーカーと組みたい。
「The Wicker Man」を日本に持って行きたい、とちょっと気になる発言もあったようです。

昨日のポスト、ベルリンでのニックの様子がビデオでもう少し・・・
ニックがBILDの編集長Kai Diekmann氏を訪ねたのはベルリンを観光するプランの中の一つ。
Axel-Springer-buildingの１６階に位置するオフィスからドイツの首都を
見下ろすニックにKai Diekmann氏は、ベルリンで観るものを説明した。
そして、残り500ピースとなったベルリンの壁の一石をニックにプレゼントした。
オスカー俳優であり、ハリウッドで最も高額のギャラを受け取る大スターの中の
一人でありながら、ニックは未だ見果てぬ夢がある。
それは書く事。出来れば執筆したい。俳優として人生で最高の瞬間に考えるのは、
『”演じる”という言葉がどうも好きじゃない、”偽り”のように聞こえる。
ボクは真実を表現する人でありたい。ちょっとしたセリフを書いたり、アドリブを入れる時
真実により近くなったように感じてその瞬間、満たされる。』
Kai Diekmann氏訪問の後ニックは首都に向かった。結局、ビルの上からベルリンの街を
見下ろすだけでは物足りなかったのだろう。

ビデオのドイツ語を英語に訳してくれたファンさんの記事が今日アップされてました。
昨日の『Kai Diekmann氏から”石造建築の本”をいただいた』というのは
ベルリンの壁の一部に使われてた本物の石の事なんだと思います。
ニックは、映画のプロモーションだけではなくベルリンの街を観光する予定で
5日間滞在したらしいです。
